Ok so i decided to go through proverbs (alongside my other blogging) so that i can study, learn, help you(the reader) to learn more
What I am going to do is go through a proverb (not a chapter) everyday and blog about it for the month of sept. I know you may be thinking ITS AUGUST LADY...lol...but since i will be starting school soon and i may need a couple of days here and there to skip I am going to start now so that i may finish by the end of the month.
I will read and equate it over to 2009 and add a few of my own personal experiences just to make it interesting
according to dictionary.com a proverb is defined as: a short popular saying, usually of unknown and ancient origin, that expresses effectively some commonplace truth or useful thought; adage; saw.
Proverbs was written by Solomon, Son of David and king of Israel
Proverbs 1:1-7
The first seven verses are explaining basically what the purpose of proverbs is. Even in the first few verses i learned a lot. Verse two starts out saying: for attaining wisdom and discipline...i have had many people tell me i was wise beyond my years so i was fine with that but what hit my spirit was the discipline(see previous blog). this paragraph goes on to say: for giving prudence to the simple, knowledge and discretion TO THE YOUNG. I consider my self to be young and so i really opened up to proverbs at this point. I really believe that that is the key to understanding and being receptive to the bible...you have to feel like IT IS FOR YOU(because it is)...the understanding can come from doing a simple thing like getting a new bible(THE GIANT KING JAMES ON YO GRAND MAMA MANTLE IN THE LIVING ROOM IS NOT THE ONLY VERSION OF THE BIBLE.....i recommend the contemporary English version(CEV)). In verse five it goes on to say let the wise listen and add to their learning and let the discerning get guidance...which basically says to me that NO ONE KNOWS IT ALL AND WITHOUT GOD KNOWLEDGE IS USELESS(mainly because you didn't make yourself and and therefore even if you have all the knowledge the world has to offer and still WITHOUT GOD YOU ARE STILL ON A ONE WAY TRIP TO HELL FIRST CLASS.
The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and discipline.-proverbs 1:7(NIV)
